Some days, owning a business is a lot of fun. Today was one of those days. I got paid to go to a brewery.
I spent the morning filming part of a brand video for Kalispell Brewing Company. As he brewed beer, Cole let me follow him around with a camera, which I don't think he inherently loves doing, but I appreciate it when people let my company into their world and trust us to capture it accurately and honestly. That is a special bond that we don't take for granted, and filming the process of making craft beer is exciting. Meanwhile, back at the office.... Amanda, my graphic designer/creative powerhouse, got to go snowboarding all morning. It was a bluebird pow day. This is exactly the second time that has happened this winter. I'm glad she got to take a break and go shred because she has been producing an unbelievable amount lately, all of high quality. Dan, my Operations Manager, is balancing all our projects like a ninja this week. He even woke up early and hiked the mountain before work. Those two are kind of crushing it at work and at life this week, and I'm really proud of them. As I drove back to Whitefish, the sun was shining, and I finally had some down time, and I thought, "Wow. I'm really doing this." I felt proud of myself. Wheelie is a business I started from a laptop in Crested Butte without any investors or financial backing, and now I have intelligent employees, a really cool office, and some of the best clients a business owner could ask for. We get paid to make videos about snowboarding and beer and love. We build brands that help Glacier National Park. We design signage for our local trails. We help action sports companies market to women. Some days are really hard. In fact, a lot of days are really hard. But today was great. Today, I am filled with pride and gratitude. Go Wheelie.
