This was another fun one. We received a phone call asking for a logo for the Kids Two Bear Marathon program, hosted by The Wave Healthclub in Whitefish. This was a program to encourage running, walking, and getting kids off the couch. The logo needed to be fun, and appeal to boys and girls, ages 8-16. We needed to design a t-shirt for that wide demographic as well. Oh, and we couldn’t use color combinations that belonged to any of the high schools in the Flathead Valley, since this program includes kids from the whole valley. The slogan included with the logo was “One Stride at a Time.”
How We Told It:
We started with 5 designs of bears running, all quite different from one another. Then, we actually showed the designs to classrooms of real kids and asked for their input. We received instructions including, “Those bears need to look more like kid bears and less like adults,” “Add laces to the shoes,” and “More colors.” No population is more honest than kids. After three rounds of revisions, we came up with a logo that worked for everyone— boys, girls, elementary, junior high, and Columbia Falls to Kila.
