Their Story
Written by Lisa.
Wasatch Adaptive Sports at Snowbird hired me to work on all of their marketing, especially event branding for their big annual event: The Steve Young Ski Classic. W.A.S. is located in Snowbird, UT, and they are extremely passionate about making sure everyone has the opportunity to experience skiing, regardless of ability or income. They needed me to shoot and edit videos, design new business cards, brochures, and collateral, and brand the Steve Young Ski Classic, their largest fundraising event of the year. I worked on location, from their office at Snowbird, and got to interact with some of the most resilient, amazing people I may ever meet. They deserved my best efforts.
How We Told It:
I decided to let their participants tell the story themselves. I photographed them having fun skiing, whether they were using a sit-ski, outriggers, or any other adaptive equipment. I also used a few shots of Steve Young (yep, the football player) skiing with the program participants, albeit a bit back-seated in his stance. I designed the posters and advertisements in a collage-style, which felt personal, intimate, and human. It was warm and a little silly, kind of like a lot of days skiing with WAS. The branding was successful, and they raised more money that year than any of the previous ones.
