Hey everyone! Amanda here--I'm back and getting down to business at Wheelie pretty hard core this week. I am shocked how quickly the last two weeks went by while I was on vacation. I went on a really fun Mother & Daughter trip with my Momma to Minnesota to visit some family and explore the North Shore of Lake Superior. After two weeks of driving 2800 miles, I was pretty excited to be home, but sad to have my vacation end with my Mom.
I've never had a job that I got home from vacation and was super stoked to come back to work, so that is a great feeling. We have so much fun at the office, and all the projects we have going on right now are a total blast!
I thought for sure that I would come back and things would be crazy, but everything is going smoothly around here. Lisa had to pretty much do everything by herself the last couple weeks before Dan, our new rad Operations Manager, started and I would be back. Not to say things haven't been busy this week. Playing catch up can be a little nuts, but I find if I crank up some music and focus on the tasks at hand, I can bust out some fun designs in a timely manner and leave room for a bit of Wheelie Company Business.
We started off our week with introducing Dan to the employee handbook, talked about current and upcoming projects and went to check out a bigger office space together. We're still not sure on this one, but we do know that we're on the hunt for a bigger space. Then on Monday, we went over the podcast to try and make a plan of attack on recording our first episode. The branding came together quite nicely for the cast, and we scheduled a time to conduct a practice recording on Tuesday from three different locations to test out sound and background noise interference. Making a podcast is a blast! There's definitely a learning curve to it, but we are getting things to flow together nicely and hope to have the podcast up very very soon!
This brings us to Tuesday through Thursday! We had so many things to work on. We even had a spontaneous project come up with one of our clients here in Whitefish! As some of you know, Spotted Bear Spirits is currently setting up camp in downtown Whitefish, and Lauren had some fresh concrete laid into the flooring on Wednesday. I don't care if you're 10 years old or 80, when there is fresh concrete poured, you want to stick your hands in it and play, and Lauren thought of this immediately. She gave Dan a call, and the three of us headed over to draw the logo bear, into the production floor concrete. Lisa did a fantastic job, and Dan and I got on our hands and knees to pick up the left over rubble.
On Thursday, I spent most of my morning working on a few things for the Montana Scene, a poster for Glacier Skate Academy and a few changes were needed for a really awesome brochure we've done for DREAM Adaptive. After that?! Well it was company crew photo time of course!
We found a white wall, set up my camera on a tripod, and brought as much of our outdoor gear in as we could. We posed in snow pants with our boards and skis, put on biking gear, held some golf clubs, put on waders, and stuffed pillows into a backpacking pack to represent backpacking/camping. After posing from every angle possible we decided we had what we needed to create an animated gif of our portraits. This will mostly be used for our Outside by Design podcast branding, as well as on the Wheelie Crew Webpage. Yesterday was extremely fun, and we finally were able to fully record our first podcast, so stay tuned for that.
Now it's Friday, and I'm finding myself swamped with projects. This is a good thing, and I love finishing my week feeling extremely productive. We all were amazed to discover how much we were able to accomplish this week. This Wheelie Fast Week has been a blast, and I can't wait to see what next week holds for us here at the Wheelie HQ!
Go out and have fun this weekend and remember to wear sunscreen, drink lots of water, and find some shade ;) HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYONE!
