I want to start off this post with going back to Last Friday and talking a little bit about Wheelie and the adventures we had at the Whitefish Trails Hootenanny! First of all, a big shout out to Carla, Heidi and Alan for having us participate. We had mentioned a couple of months ago that would like to do a photo booth to benefit the trails. Needless to say it was an adventure, and a rocking good time.
Last Friday started off as any other, we all met at the office and we all looked like we'd been hit by a bus due to the extreme smoke conditions in the valley! We spent the afternoon setting up our photo booth and when the Hootenanny was about to begin, gail force winds and rain blew through Whitefish!
I'm pretty sure we had at least 7 people holding down our tent while I frantically took the umbrella reflectors off of my lights. Our props blew everywhere, and things got crazy! Eventually, the smoke cleared out, Big Mountain was visible for the first time in days, and the sun made an appearance before it went down. We had many participants come in for a photo and lots of donations to the Whitefish Trails in the process. Wheelie would like to send a big Thank You out to the community of Whitefish and the Flathead Valley for their support of The Whitefish Trails. Stella has been sending out emails with your photographs. If we haven't gotten your photos to you quite yet, fret not-- we're working on them.
After a weekend of Depot Park events, I got back to the office on Monday feeling pretty great. The Smoke wasn't as bad as it had been the week before, but then wait! I spoke too soon. By the middle of the day Monday, the smoke was back, and it was time to just stay inside and hammer out some serious designs.
Lisa and Dan journeyed down to Big Sky on Tuesday morning to meet with our newest clients. Armed with mountain bikes, helmets, and Wheelie documents in hand, they made the trek in Lisa's little, blue truck. We're going to be making all of the bike trail maps and signs for Big Sky, and it's going to be an extremely fun project! We could not be more stoked! As you can tell by the photo, Dan is ready for all kinds of corporate meetings and Lisa is pumped to ride the Yeti around to scope out the trails for the project. (This is why we send Dan to corporate meetings and not Lisa)
In the meantime, I spent most of the day on Tuesday alone in the office working on some drawings for Spotted Bear Spirits, logo options for a new client, and a website. I realized how quiet the office can get without Dan or Lisa here, plus Pete and Stella wouldn't be in at all, and I needed to just focus, but it's actually a lot harder to focus on things when you're all by yourself. We have a pretty great group dynamic going on here at Wheelie, and when everyone is gone and one is left alone, it's pretty damn quiet! I'm stoked to have them back today!
Stella came in on Wednesday and Thursday and has been working endlessly on editing podcasts and prepping the photo booth files. She brought her pup, Sophie, into the office, and that has been a lot of fun, aside from Sophie goosing me every chance she got! It's always nice to have a furry friend at the office.
To update you folks on Spotted Bear Spirits, Lisa and I had a very fun meeting regarding bottle labels last week with the lovely Lauren, and she could not be more pumped to get the distillery up and running. If you aren't following Spotted Bear Spirits on Facebook or Instagram you should! Use the hashtag #spiritedstartup. You can see all the progress in construction, designs, and much much more. Currently I'm working on an Adult Coloring Page! It's going to be very informative and very fun to color while you're enjoying a cocktail at the tasting room. Keep an eye out-- they're tentatively opening this fall.
And speaking of fall, it is literally just around the corner! We cannot believe how fast the summer has flown by! Tuesday is already September 1st, most of the kids in the valley are back in schools giving teachers dirty looks. And the tourist traffic has slowed down a lot. The good news with the summer flying by is that it's Ski Pass buying time and we're already stoked for the first snowfall, and it also means that we must have been really busy this summer because I feel like Memorial Day Weekend was just last week!
Enjoy your weekend, readers! We'll catch you back here again next week for A Wheelie__Fill in the blank__Week to keep you up to date on our activities and current projects. Happy Friday Folks!
