By Amanda Guy, our trusty designer Well it's officially the end of Courtney's second week here as our new project manager and she's pretty much learned all that there is to really know about me. Basically, when it comes down to it, I love my family, Star Wars, and Bacon. (Although, I haven't had Bacon in like 27 days! But I'm almost done with my cleanse. YIPPEE!) Okay, back to the fact that it's the end of Courtney's second week at Wheelie. So she's been here long enough now to hear me use a Star Wars reference every day, if not twice a day, and now that she really understands how I feel about the movies, she really understands why this week was so much fun for me on the design front. So next Wednesday is May 4th, and this means that it will be national Star Wars Day. Some of you out there that may not be fans won't quite get the reference to May 4th right away, but I'm about to blow your mind. MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU! (Get it, cause it's like, May the Force, but instead we're using the 4th day in the month of May?!) So yes, I am a giant nerd. But with this particular day coming up, my favorite pizza place here in Whitefish asked me to design some collateral for their own celebration of Star Wars Day. Although I'm not surprised they asked, they are our regular client and Jelisa, being related to me, thought of me right away when a student from Whitefish High School brought her the idea to begin with. It's been a lot of fun to draw some graphics for the day, and I even got to go over to Jersey Boys Pizzeria, slap on some rubber gloves, and play with pizza slices and toppings until I came up with some recognizable characters from the original films. (Not that they're perfect, but they still look fun!) So if you're in or around Whitefish on May 4th, swing by Jersey Boys and grab a couple of slices so that you have a chance to enter their Star Wars Drawing! They'll be giving away the complete set of movies to the lucky winner. Plus, who doesn't love pizza? I mean come on! Photos, Photos & More PHOTOS! For starters, we got a new toy this week that makes every day of filming like Christmas for us! Our brand new steadycam is baller, and we've already used it a lot this week on personal and client projects. And, if you've been following my blog the last three weeks, you're aware that our awesome intern, Niles, has been building us an infinity wall in our photo studio in the upstairs of The WheelHouse. Well folks, he's done it: he finished the wall, and it looks absolutely amazing! I've already had two photoshoots upstairs since he finished it on Monday. It looks amazing, and we are so stoked to have it. We have lots of ideas on how to utilize the wall for current and future projects, including photographing items from our very own portfolio. As a photographer, I've always wanted an infinity wall, and I think I'm probably more stoked than anyone else here at Wheelie about this fun new addition. We also have totally finished our wood pallet wall and doorway. Of course by we, I mean Lisa and her manfriend, Travis. It looks wonderful! We now have a whiteboard in the conference room, and Dan and Travis are making sure to update their Strava times to prove who is the fastest of them all. #fasttravis Basically, the office is almost done. Now it's just a matter of buying flowers and pulling weeds in the yard. Our awesome officemate, Paddlefish Sports, is going to help re-seed the yard soon (thank you!), and before you know it, we'll be able to have Wheelie BBQs after work. All of the Accents in this office Yeah...Accents! So I'm not sure if you are all aware of this or not, but I'm actually the only true local that works here at Wheelie. Lisa is from Colorado, Dan is from Minnesota (YOU BET'CHA), and Courtney is from Georgia. Somehow, I'm the only one at the office that gets made fun of for saying words differently. A great example is that I apparently say the word bag -- BAAAAAG -- and it has been an ongoing joke since Lisa hired me last spring. Then she told Dan about it when she hired Dan, and they both have been consistently making fun of me since then. Which I think is hilarious as well. In fact, I make extra-sure that I pronounce the words, tag, bag, keg, and leg with a long drawn out 'aaaaag'. Thank goodness for Courtney's arrival at Wheelie, and her adorable southern accent with the use of the word 'Y'all'. Some of the teasing has been aimed in her direction instead. We even ordered her business cards with 'Y'all' on them and cannot wait for her to get them so she can start passing them out. Teasing and hilariousness aside though, we all love each other dearly here, and it's all in good fun. It's great to have a diverse-yet-similar group of people who work together day in and day out at our little creative agency. On that note, I'll leave 'y'all' with this.
The Whitefish Trails are amazing right now. Get out and ride your bikes! I scoped out Wheelie's section of trail that we maintain twice a year on Tuesday, and let me tell you what, the cliff section looks great. We have a little more raking to do on our trail day, but the section is great and so much fun! Happy Friday WheelHeads!
