This is the poster for the 38th annual Al Johnson race in Crested Butte. The entire poster flips upside down and says the same thing no matter which way you hang it! The race begins with an uphill hike, or skin, so the letters are made out of ski skins, which is what people put on the bottom of their skis so they can walk uphill without sliding backwards. Then the teams race down the hill to the finish line. Everyone wears goofy costumes, so I included sketches of some of the costumes I remember from the last few years.
The Al Johnson Race is a fun event at Crested Butte Mountain Resort every spring, and I am proud to create the poster this year! -Lisa
