Moving Moments: Behind The Scenes of the Historic Tamarack Lodge brand video

There’s this video that we’ve been working on for a while in the office. Maybe you’ve seen it.

We made it for our friends at The Historic Tamarack Lodge, and it will be featured on the front page of their new website once it’s launched.

If you missed it, you can see it here https://vimeo.com/156585298.

We’ve been making videos [https://vimeo.com/user39640446] at Wheelie for a number of months now, and we’re proud of what we’ve produced. We put our heart and soul into the videos we make for our clients because videos need to make people feel things, and if we aren’t feeling those things in the process, we’re not going to be successful.

We were excited to make Tamarack Lodge a brand video because it gave us the opportunity to make something that reflected Montana and specifically the Flathead Valley. It gave us a chance to show off all the things we love about where we live.

And this is what we came up with:
Everyone in the office had a role in collecting the footage that went into this video. There are some beautiful still images Amanda dug out of her photography portfolio, there are snowmobiling and hammocking shots that Lisa took years ago when she first moved to Whitefish, and we rediscovered some gorgeous footage Dan took while on a fishing trip this fall.

Ever wondered what a designer’s toes look like?

And there are shots I took of people that really matter to me, doing the things that really matter to them.

This is my friend, Jack. This clip is short, but Jack is hitting the side of Inspiration on Big Mountain the same way I’ve seen him do since we were 10 years old. Skiing is something he loves, something we have both loved for a long time, and now I’ve captured that moment.

This is Lisa’s boyfriend. I don’t know much about when this shot was taken, but I know that this is his hand, and that they were going somewhere on a beautiful day and that the joy on the tips of his fingertips is real.

Amanda took this pan on an early morning splitboard trip to the top of the mountain this winter. It was Amanda’s first trip to the summit in weeks thanks to a knee injury earlier in the season that knocked her out for some of the best powder days. When Amanda took this shot, she was breathing hard, but she had made it to the top, her legs were strong again, she had reached a goal.

This is my boyfriend. He loves his bike and his dog. And when I got the two of them together with a sunset on the top of Spencer Mountain, I knew I had something special.
Picture
And this is my dad. He really does look like this on a daily basis. And he really does take a walk in the woods regularly. And those really are his snow shoes. The woods are something my dad is passionate about. So I wanted to capture him there.
And that’s my voice you’re hearing all the way through.

We literally throw ourselves into our videos because unless we are shooting something real, we haven’t captured anything. We collect moments to tell stories.

Share your story with us, we would love to share our moments with you.

BEHIND THE WHEEL
I can't recommend Wheelie enough. Our website launch was almost too successful, and we could barely keep up with the amount of orders we received as soon as we announced the rebrand. They are ah.MAZING!"
