By: Lisa Slagle I'm starting a company podcast. It's called Outside by Design, and it features adventure stories and interviews with entrepreneurs and leaders in the outdoor industry. Do I know how to write, record, and edit a weekly podcast and then make it available to download for free in the iTunes store? No. Of course not. Or at least I didn't a week ago. All week, I've been researching, testing, recording, failing, trying again, and succeeding, much to my designer, Amanda's, entertainment. ("Amanda, stop working and call me on Skype from one room away! I figured out how to record it. What? Yes--for real this time!") After some trial and error, I can confidently say that this podcast is going to be great quality, a lot of fun for us to create, and most importantly, it will provide valuable insights and interviews to our listeners.
One of the most important things about the Wheelie Creative brand is that it will never be complacent. I like learning new things, even if I don't know what I'm doing at first. It's like dropping into a steep, rocky line for the first time after scoping it from a distance--I thrive on that feeling. Also, giving away useful, high-quality, genuine content is one of the main pillars of my company. I like giving free content to my clients and potential clients-- it sets their expectations of what it feels like to work with me and my team. We are fun. And innovative. And we stole Dan Hansen from Glacier Park Inc. to come be our Operations Manager. (Super stoked on this new addition to the crew! Dan's the man!) I encourage you to do this for your brand. Not steal Dan. You can't have him. I mean I'm encouraging you to learn something new---to never let your brand grow stale--and to share your journey with your customers. They will be interested. Share content with them. Give a little preview of what they are going to get when they walk into your store, buy your product, or sign up for your services. Your company is uniquely yours. Your story is interesting. Share it.
