If you’re like me, you’re enjoying the changes in the weather and gearing up for winter. Ski passes have been purchased, the smoke has cleared, and the streets are covered in snow instead of yellow leaves. We’re deep in the the fourth quarter of our 2017 work year at Wheelie.
Things have been bustling around here as of late. It’s been a while since I wrote one of what Lisa likes to call, an overly-honest blog post about the day-to-day at Wheelie. So here it goes:
We’ve been having discovery meeting after discovery meeting, signing on new clients, updating HTML and CSS code, overhauling brands for long-established businesses, crushing photoshoots, creating unique and fun package design, and gearing up to put together our 2018 Instagram Advent Calendar. Yeah, it’s already that time of year again.
As most of you may know, Lisa has been commuting back and forth to Denver over the last four months. It has been crazy with the new branch open, and I think Lisa has reached a whole new level of boss-lady status! It’s not easy to boss around 9 other people, run a business, and have time to tear it up on the trail with camera gear and product, but she does it with flair and a huge-ass smile on her face. Just because we are growing doesn’t mean the silliness, fun, and creative juices have dwindled away. If anything, we’re working with a whole crew of people who feed off of one another’s weirdness. It really is true that we are a stone-cold pack of weirdos around here, but we always get the job done!
In design news, as mentioned before, we’ve done a huge number of projects over the last year, and as we head into fourth quarter, we’ve been reflecting on what we’ve been pumping out the door since early January.
Over the course of the summer, we had the opportunity to work with our friends over at Riding On Insulin again, and that was one of the most enjoyable projects I had the pleasure of working on because Sean and Mollie are extremely fun to work with and very open to new ideas.
Riding On Insulin was seeking a brand overhaul. Somewhere along the line, as these things do happen, the brand got to be bigger than anticipated and its look needed to grow, too. Ultimately, ROI needed a single logo and accompanying visuals that really represented the brand and didn’t stray away from who they are and what they believe.
Not only did Wheelie get to overhaul the brand with fun color pops, duotones, and geometric shapes, but we also got to revisit the website we developed over two years ago and completely re-develop it to match the new brand. We couldn’t be more thrilled with how the final branding and site turned out.
Early this fall, we had two more photoshoots for our friends over at GSI Outdoors where we cooked, paddle boarded in a Pacific Northwest shoot and sent Lisa into the Colorado backcountry with tons of gear, dogs and humans for the Colorado shoot. The end results turned out great, and we have happy clients.
Speaking of photoshoots...
Last week brought up more opportunity to get outside and photograph. Not only to photograph, but also to film some extremely badass women on mountain bikes in the desert. Lisa, Jessica and myself loaded up and made the 18 hour trek to Sedona, AZ to film and photograph the 2017 ROAM BIKE FEST event.
This very special event was the first of it’s kind. All women, all mountain biking, and pure fun in flannels and tents! For three days we stuck cameras in these women’s faces . The funnest fact about this event is that we were an all woman’s film crew in an all women’s event. Stay tuned for more content from Roam Bike Fest, but here's some teaser photos. Enjoy!
Additionally, stay tuned for some fun videos from Roam Fest. You won't be disappointed.
